Optimising return on shelf space

JDH Solutions’ client, one of the world’s leading consumer battery manufacturers had a requirement to achieve a greater understanding of existing shelf space with the objective of optimising the return on space.

JDH Solutions firstly had to build a solid data foundation by creating a product database and providing the latest product images to ensure the built planograms contained the latest available information. The team worked with the customer specific Category Decision Tree so the data in the product database aligned with the customer view of the category segmentation.

JDH Solutions also created  ‘as is’ Planograms (using Blue Yonder Space Planning software) by referencing in-store photographs, from a PDF provided by the client and in some cases, completely from scratch.  3D planogram options were also provided. 

It was important to the client that the planograms were not only visually appealing but commercially viable. JDH Solutions are experts in planogram metrics and supported the client in analysing the shelf space by utilising the software reporting tools with specific reports, charts and planogram highlights.

With a solid foundation of product data and images from which to create the planograms, JDH Solutions was able to support the client with the ‘as is’ situation in the UK’s major retailers and from there provide advice and recommendations on optimising the planogram space.
